Cadillac Shines Up Platinum Editions

While it previews the new CTS sedan, off the record, before itsDetroit show unveiling, Cadillac will show a trio of Platinum Series special-edition vehicles at the Los Angeles auto show.

The limited editions are, Cadillac explains, the luxury counterpoints to the V-Series performance variants of its lineup. Each features generous helpings of chrome, wood, and leather trim in handcrafted interiors.

The XLR Platinum wears new 15-spoke, 18-inch wheels along with a new Liquid Amethyst paint job, a brighter chrome grille, and Platinum badging. Inside, it dons olive ash wood on its dash, Cashmere-colored interior trim, a wood-trimmed steering wheel, and an Alcantara suede headliner. It goes on sale in the first quarter of 2007.

The STS Platinum also gets 18-inch wheels and a brighter grille. Its distinctive paint shade is called Glacier Gold, which is punctuated by Platinum badging and more chrome-like trim on the door handles. Inside, it gets Tuscany leather, metallic accents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, olive ash trim, and a choice of cocoa-cashmere or black interiors, as well as a choice of V-6 or V-8 engines. It goes on sale in early 2007, too.

The DTS Platinum rides on 18-inch wheels, with chrome-style wheels and door handles, and an Ebony paint job. The interior combines light and dark brown shades with Tuscany leather, a leather heated steering wheel, olive ash wood trim, a suede headliner, and Platinum badges. It’s available from August of 2007.
