Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling more than 37,000 Dodge Journey, Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, and Ram ProMaster vehicles from the 2015 and 2016 model years. According to the automaker, some of those vehicles may have a problem with their transmission pumps.
The issue has been found on vehicles with six-speed automatic transmissions. FCA says that the pumps on those vehicles might not comply with specifications, and as a result, they may lose propulsion. Should that happen while a vehicle is in traffic, it could increase the risk of a collision. To date, however, FCA has received no reports of accidents or injuries linked to the problem.
The recall affects the following makes and models:
- 2015-2016 Chrysler Town & Country
- 2015-2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
- 2015-2016 Dodge Journey
- 2016 Ram ProMaster
The recall includes 26,211 vehicles registered in the U.S., 9,190 in Canada, 321 in Mexico, and 1,514 elsewhere. Thankfully, many of the vehicles are still on dealers' lots.
FCA will mail recall notices to owners of the affected vehicles, advising them when they may schedule service. If you own one of the models listed above and you have questions, you're encouraged to contact FCA's Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.
