On Monday, we told you about the free rides that BMW and Uber were giving to promote the all-new 2016 BMW 7-Series that arrives in showrooms Saturday.
Today, Uber's biggest competitor, Lyft, is upping the stakes. The company has partnered with Verizon to give a handful of lucky New Yorkers rides in sweet, sweet DeLorean DMC-12s.
If this is the first site you've visited today, that promotion might seem a little strange. If not, though, you understand all-too-well what's going on. Today is October 21, 2015 -- the same day that Marty McFly visited in the 1989 movie Back to the Future II, courtesy of Doc Brown's highly tuned, time-traveling DeLorean.
As with the BMW event, though, there are a couple of caveats associated with the Lyft/Verizon promo. Most importantly, the offer only runs from 11am to 5pm Eastern time. Also, there are a limited number of vehicles involved in the program, so nabbing one might be tough. And unlike Uber's free BMW rides, it looks as if you'll have to shell out the usual sum for your DeLorean Lyft.
That said, getting a very special ride on this very special day is definitely worth it. To book your lift, simply crack open the Lyft app, select "McFly Mode", and hope you're one of the lucky ones.
If you are, take plenty of pics. And if you find yourself 30 years in the past, don't make out with your mom.
