From The Car Connection: 2016 Acura RLX Review The Acura RLX is not the sort of car that screams for attention and recognition even though it's the automaker's flagship. It's not a car for extroverts, even though its performance is impressive and satisfying. Instead, the RLX is subtle luxury, with an understated design and an interior that's relatively free of gimmickry. While it might not appeal to everyone, we think this combination of traits makes the RLX an intriguing outlier in the market.
Earlier this week, we reported on a vulnerability in Chrysler's Uconnect system that allowed two hackers to remotely control a Jeep Cherokee. (They could've chosen any number of vehicles from a wide range of automakers, but determined that the Cherokee was best suited for their demonstration.)
Will Mitsubishi stick it out in the U.S.? Is it worth it selling so few mass-market automobiles, all of which have to be imported? Will the company eventually turn its backs on the U.S., as Isuzu did, and focus attention on other markets?
2016 Lexus IS 200t F Sport
From Motor Authority:
With the arrival of its new NX crossover last year, Lexus joined the wave of automakers introducing downsized turbocharged engines to help meet tough new fuel economy and emissions regulations. Around the same time as the arrival of the turbocharged NX, badged an NX 200t, we discovered that Lexus had registered the trademark “IS 200t”, suggesting that the IS small sports sedan was next in line to receive the turbo treatment.
They say you can never have too much of a good thing, and for one couple from Texas not even 77 Dodge Vipers are enough to satisfy their demand for the all-American supercar as they’ve just added two more to their collection.
It’s not often that you can drive your car at the limit on a public road but the annual Sun Valley Road Rally in Idaho lets you do just that. It’s where owners of some of the fastest cars in the world get to let loose on a smooth, straight stretch of highway, and more often than not you’ll see a Bugatti Veyron or two making some high-speed runs. That’s exactly what happened this year.
2015 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
With gas prices still relatively reasonable, sales of hybrid cars seem to have plateaued--and that means carmakers are boosting incentives on several models. The Toyota Avalon Hybrid has always been one of our favorites, and in recent months, incentives have risen on the three-year-old big sedan.
All recent statements from Tesla Motors indicate that development of the Silicon Valley automaker's Model 3 electric car is still on track for a launch sometime in 2017. And while the company has said it plans to unveil the car next year, it hasn't discussed anything more specific than that.
Electric-car advocates know that a seamless rush of maximum torque from 0 rpm is one of the secret advantages of using an electric motor to power a vehicle. And that fact--most publicly shown off by the Tesla Model S P85D performance model, and now by its even faster successor, the P90D--has pretty much eradicated those tedious "slow nerdy golf cart" comments from public discussions of electric cars.
