Mitsubishi has been hinting at a return of a legend, its Montero nameplate, for a couple of years, and now a teaser shot for a new Montero, a new Montero Sport to be exact, has surfaced. In other markets the SUV will be known as either a Challenger or Pajero Sport.

Last October, we received the shock news that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was planning to spin off Ferrari, which this week FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said he thought was worth “at least” $11 billion as a standalone firm. Until quite recently, luxury SUVs and plugging in didn’t really go together. Yet with the introduction of the 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the upcoming 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e, and soon the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE550e Plug-In Hybrid, this corner of the market has entirely changed.
As the cost of advanced technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of vehicle travel rises, car companies have increasingly partnered to share those technologies and their costs. Now BMW has shown the first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle prototypes from its partnership of several years with Toyota, which aspires to be the global leader in fuel-cell cars just as it is today in hybrids.
New cars and trucks are selling at a blistering pace in the U.S. right now, adding to a seventh consecutive year of volume growth for the industry. But with half the year gone, sales of plug-in electric cars are in something of a holding pattern despite a surge last month, pending the launch of two key products.
