The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord hit their stride in the 1980s, when they became the epitome of the American mid-size sedan. Since then, both have evolved to keep pace with excellent new family sedans from Ford and Subaru. While they've never been all that stylish, the Accord and Camry always have been smart and sensible.
BMW and Mercedes-Benz continue to be the front-runners in the luxury segment, but Audi has been gaining on them. What it may be missing in cachet, it makes up for with charm--demonstrated well with its smart, thoroughly competitive A4.
In just a few generations, both the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima have gone from distant finishers high-ranked competitors that now rank in sales alongside vehicles like the Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion. It's all for good reason, thanks to great styling, excellent fuel economy, available hybrid models, and class-leading value.
2016 Ferrari 488 GTB - Live Photos, 2015 Geneva Motor Show
The convertible version of Ferrari’s new 488 GTB has been spotted in prototype form outside the Italian automaker’s Maranello headquarters. The new car, which replaces the mechanically-similar 458 Spider in the Ferrari stable, should be revealed later this year or early next (a debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show in September is likely).
GM is celebrating the manufacture of the 500 millionth vehicle to wear one of its brands, by thanking its customers past and present via small gifts such as free auto show tickets and exclusive owner events right up to whole cars. Of course, the vast majority of those vehicles were built by the old GM, which was founded in 1908 and went bankrupt in 2009 during the height of the global financial crisis.
Clarkson and the lads might have left the building, but the BBC has no intention of putting its cash cow franchise out to pasture, as evidenced by this new teaser shot for the digital edition of Top Gear magazine.
2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid
A redesigned Toyota Prius hybrid is on the way, although it may not go on sale in the U.S. until next year. When it does, it will likely be followed in due course by redesigned versions of the other Prius "family" vehicles--the Prius C subcompact and the Prius V tall wagon.
Back in January, engineering firm Munro & Associates orchestrated a "tear-down" of a BMW i3 electric car at its facility near Detroit. The company--which specializes in disassembling new cars, analyzing them, and selling the information to competitors--even posted a video of the process.
