According to Ford, a “broken pawl spring tab” could either prevent the door from latching or allow the door to unlatch while the vehicle is moving.
The recall affects the 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta, 2013-2014 Ford Fusion, and 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ. In all, the effort covers 336,873 vehicles in the U.S., with the remainder in Canada and Mexico.
All of the vehicles with the potential issue are assembled in Ford’s Mexico plants—the Fiesta in Cuautitlán and the Fusion and MKZ in Hermosillo.
