The 2015 Lexus IS is a compact sport sedan that fits below the GS models on the more performance-oriented side of the luxury brand's lineup. It was fully redesigned just last year, but for 2015 it gains a handful of updates. LED fog lamps sharpen the look; Siri Eyes Free from Apple adds to the interface; and there are more choices inside with newly available piano black trim.
2016 Cadillac ELR
Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen has hinted that the ELR might not spawn a second generation but that doesn’t mean GM’s premium division has completely given up on the car. An updated version is being introduced for the 2016 model year, and has been revealed in full today.
Buick will use next week’s 2015 Shanghai Auto Show to reveal its all-new Verano compact sedan, and to help build excitement has released a teaser image showing the car’s rear. The Verano debuting in Shanghai has been designed specifically for the Chinese market, where it will be labeled a “Wei Lang” and go on sale later this year.
Mercedes-AMG has a new race car based on its stunning GT sports car to replace the hugely-successful SLS AMG GT3, which is being phased out at the end of the 2015 motorsport season. We got our first look at the new GT-based racer, aptly named a “GT3”, at the recent Geneva Motor Show, and now we have new video of it.

Last week, the new base version of the Tesla Model S, known as the 70D, hit the electric-car world like a thunderclap. No early-warning publicity, no teasing tweet from Elon. Just the sudden appearance on the Tesla website configurator of the new model--with dual motors, all-wheel drive, a 70-kWh battery that gives it an EPA range of 240 miles, and a base price of $75,000.
Hybrid models are a very significant part of the lineup for both the luxury brand Lexus and its mainstream counterpart (and parent company) Toyota. Hybrids accounted for about 16 percent of the brands’ U.S. sales, while they encompass nearly 70 percent of the U.S. hybrid market and about 85 percent of the luxury hybrid market.
The suggested retail price of the 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV electric car will be cut by $1,650, to $25,995, GM announced yesterday. Chevrolet's chief global marketing officer, Tim Mahoney, announced the price cut in a luncheon speech at the Washington Automotive Press Association.
