April tends to be the time of the year when business at dealerships really starts to perk up. And after a particularly harsh winter for some regions of the U.S., it’s likely that rebound will happen with a little more uptick than usual.
Meanwhile showrooms need to turn their inventories over before summer, and automakers tend to reveal the rest of what’s arriving in the fall soon, if they haven’t already at the winter’s big auto shows. Vehicles need to be moved out a little faster than usual, so it makes sense that some of more dated models that are poised for serious change can see some clearance pricing and tempting deals.
Some of the best deals, among these ‘lame duck’ models, can be in the form of manufacturer-subsidized leases. And provided you understand leasing and decide it’s right for you, it may actually save you money versus buying.

Here are several of the best lease deals this month, from our price-minded partners over at CarsDirect.
- The 2015 Honda Pilot is already overshadowed by the quite radically different, more smooth-and-rounded 2016 Honda Pilot. But if you like the 2015 Pilot’s body, more upright look better, this is your chance to get one with some very favorable lease terms—like just $269 a month for three years, with $2,399 due at signing.
- Likewise, the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu is to be replaced in mere months by a completely redesigned, reskinned (and far more svelte, in our opinion) 2016 Malibu. Although if your primary interest is getting a good mid-size family sedan with the lowest possible payment, the lease numbers ($179 a month, with $2,469 down on a Malibu LT) are great right now.
- We’re not sure how much longer the carry-over 2015 Infiniti Q40 is going to be offered. But for now, this model that used to be called the G37 Sedan can be had on a 39-month lease for a low $279-a-month rate (with $3,999 due at signing). And we suspect that’s sure to keep them moving.
