While automakers flood into niches with compact crossovers and coupe-like sedans, they're not exactly rushing headlong into minivans. Over the past few years, the class has pretty much settled down to the big four sellers--Odyssey, Sienna, Town & Country, and Grand Caravan--and outliers like the Nissan Quest, Mazda 5, and Kia Sedona.

2015 Acura RDX
Things are just starting to settle at the Detroit Auto Show but already we have details on some of the new vehicles set to appear at the Chicago Auto Show, which this year gets underway February 12. One of them is a heavily-updated RDX due for the 2016 model year.
Following last year’s celebration of the Mustang at the annual Carlisle Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the highlight of this year’s event, which runs June 5-7, will be the Blue Oval’s GT supercar. Original GT40s, the later GT and possibly even the all-new GT that starred at the recent Detroit Auto Show are expected to turn out.

2016 Toyota Mirai
Tokyo will host the 2020 Summer Olympics, and officials there are already preparing the city to host an influx of athletes--and bask in the global spotlight. Japan is also using the Games as an opportunity to promote hydrogen fuel-cell cars.
General Motors said today that it will begin selling its 2015 Chevrolet Spark EV in the state of Maryland this spring, the first East Coast state in which the electric minicar will be available. The Spark EV has a connection to the state: Both its 105-kilowatt (140-horsepower) electric motor and its drive unit are manufactured at a GM plant in White Sands.
In the U.S., diesel engines have long been established in pickup trucks. In passenger cars, however, they've remained a small part of the overall market. But diesels seem to be doing well in another segment: larger SUVs, particularly those from luxury makers, like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
