If you've got a 2015 Jaguar F-Type parked in your garage, we have good news and bad news.
The good news is that the F-Type is a beautiful ride. But you probably knew that.
The bad news is that the 2015 F-Type has been recalled, as have 2015 models of the Jaguar XF and XJ. The cars may suffer from problems that could cause them to stall in traffic, or even cause a fire.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, those problems stem from improperly mounted engine components -- specifically, the Front End Accessory Drive belt, the Power Assisted Steering pump pulley, and the battery positive cable. As a result, all may be at risk of detaching.
CHECK OUT: 2015 Nissan Murano: First Drive
If the Front End Accessory Drive belt or Power Assisted Steering pump pulley detach, they could deactivate the power steering system, making the vehicle harder to control and increasing the risk of a crash. If the battery cable detaches, it could cause an electrical short, which could result in a fire.
The recall affects:
- 2015 Jaguar F-Type vehicles built between August 25, 2014 and September 12, 2014
- 2015 XF vehicles built between September 3, 2014 and September 12, 2014
- 2015 XJ vehicles built between August 21, 2014 and September 11, 2014
Thankfully, the number of vehicles included on that list is small: just 272.
Jaguar has already mailed recall notices to owners, so if your vehicle is affected by these problems, you've likely already heard about it.
