The 2015 Ford Transit has yet to go on sale, but one of jobs this full-size van will be tasked with handling is passenger transportation. To show some of the van’s hidden potential, Ford teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports to create Transit Skyliner Concept, which will be on display next week at the New York Auto Show.

According to Ford, Galpin has a long history of creating conversion vans, and the Ford dealer franchise/vehicle customizer may have outdone itself with this latest creation. The Skyliner Concept is a “private jet on wheels” that transforms the Transit’s airport shuttle rear bench seating into a quartet of leather-bound, reclining lounge chairs with retractable foot rests.

To complement the seating, the rest of the interior features wood flooring, a built-in bar, LED mood lighting and a surround sound entertainment system with a 52-inch flat screen, satellite TV and a music server capable of storing up to 1,000 movies. To finish off the lavish travel experience, the Transit Skyliner Concept is topped off with a matching set of luggage.

While these features would be great for staying entertained on long road trips, the rear seating of the Transit Skyliner Concept can be reconfigured for business meetings. The front chairs are able to swivel to face the rear seats, and a motorized table can pop up so passengers can get some work done en route to their destination.

Ford’s custom motor coach even looks the part from the outside with a stylish two-tone paint scheme and custom Forgiato wheels. It’s highly unlikely that Ford would ever built such a version of the Transit, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see something like this in a limousine fleet after the van goes on sale this summer.
