Switchgate Update: GM On Trial & On Capitol Hill Page 2

Two lawsuits claim that Switchgate recall should be expanded
Plaintiffs in an Alabama state court have filed suit against GM, arguing that technical service bulletins indicate ignition switch problems on the Chevy Cobalt persisted until April 2009. A similar lawsuit filed in federal court in California insists that ignition problems can be found in Cobalts manufactured through the 2010 calendar year. GM hasn't commented on either of those claims -- but we wouldn't be surprised if Barra was asked about them next week.

Switchgate is evolving rapidly on many different fronts. We'll do our best to post periodic updates to keep you in the loop.

In the meantime, if you own one of the recalled vehicles, we encourage you to contact GM as soon as possible. You can reach Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, Pontiac at 800-762-2737, and Saturn at 800-553-6000. According to a NHTSA bulletin, "Until the recall repairs have been performed, it is very important that customers remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the vehicle key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring."
