It may look the same, but for 2014 Jeep has refreshed the Patriot where it counts by ditching the CVT and giving it more miles per gallon.
That's right, the CVT transmission in the Jeep Patriot has been replaced with a six-speed automatic across the board. Both the 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter four-cylinders now feature this new transmission, and with it, EPA fuel economy ratings of up to 30 mpg on the highway. Jeep's Freedom Drive II is available, and when equipped the Patriot receives Jeep's Trail Rated badge meaning this crossover has some off-road chops.
Exterior and interior styling remain the same, but that's not a bad thing as we like the blocky, squared off styling.
The Patriot also steps up its safety game with new standard front seat-mounted airbags, electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist, and anti-lock brakes.
