The 2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards will reach their culmination at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in just over a month's time.
In anticipation of the award's announcement, the 49 jurors--among them our own editorial director Marty Padgett--have cut their list of nominees down to just three finalists in each category.
While the car list reads much like a re-cap of our Best Car To Buy 2013 award, the Truck/Utility list is a bit more unusual.
Renamed for 2013 from just "North American Truck of the Year", the new North American Truck/Utility of the Year award aims to be more inclusive--not that the name of the award has stopped the jury from selecting rather non-truck-like vehicles for nomination and even victory in the past.
Despite the issues with the award's categorization, we can't really argue with the vehicles chosen. The Ford C-Max earned an overall rating of 7.8 from our reviewers, while the Mazda CX-5 scored a 7.4, and the Best Car To Buy-nominated 2013 Ram 1500 scored an impressive 8 overall.
The 2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year award winners will be announced at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show on Monday, January 14th.
