Last year an avid Audi fan posted a tweet with the hashtag #WantAnR8. Audi not only surprised the fan by showing up with an R8 for her to use for a day, but decided that the hashtag would make for an innovative marketing campaign. It was right, as the hashtag has been used over 75,000 times.
Audi announced today that it's restarting the #WantAnR8 campaign effective immediately. Fans can post a tweet with the hashtag #WantAnR8 to enter, as long as they meet eligibility criteria. The contest will run through October 29, 2012, and is divided into four periods.
Each contest period will have two winners, and each winner will get a chance to drive a 2012 R8 on track at the Audi Sportscar Experience in Sonoma, CA. If track driving isn't your thing, the winner may choose to have an R8 dropped at his doorstep to use for the day, though we highly recommend the track option.
This time winners will be picked by a panel of judges. The entries will be rated three criteria:
- Creativity and originality - worth 34 percent
- Quality of the conversation developed by tweet - worth 33 percent
- Use and quality of multimedia in the tweet - worth 33 percent
The contest started this morning, so if you #WantAnR8, we suggest you start brainstorming some creative tweets.
