General Motors has issued a recall for 2012 models of the Buick Regal due to a problem with the parking lamps.
According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, parking lamps on the 2012 Regal don't illuminate when either the parking lamps or the headlamps are turned on. The issue has been traced to a malfunctioning bit of software.
The problem affects Regals built between February 22, 2011 and February 22, 2012. All told, some 3,633 vehicles are subject to recall.
General Motors began sending out notices of the recall on Monday, March 12. After owners receive that alert, they'll be able to take their vehicles to a local dealer, who will reprogram the body control module, free of charge.
If you own one of the recalled vehicles and have questions, we encourage you to contact GM at 800-521-7300 and ask about recall #12048. Alternately, you can call the NHTSA at 888-327-4236 and inquire about campaign #12V093000.
