Chrysler Recalls 2012 Fiat 500 And 2012 Dodge Journey Models

November 23, 2011
Chrysler has announced the recall of certain Fiat 500 and Dodge Journey models built for the 2012 model year. All 340 vehicles affected were assembled between October 24 and October 26, 2011, and may contain contaminated brake fluid.

Vehicles in question may have power steering fluid, or a mixture of brake fluid and power steering fluid, in the brake system. The power steering fluid may degrade the seals of braking system components, leading to a loss of braking ability.

The recall is expected to begin on or about December 1, 2011. Chrysler will notify owners of affected vehicles, and dealers will replace all system components that come in contact with brake fluid.

Owners with questions or concerns can reach Chrysler’s customer service hotline at (800) 853-1403, or they may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236 for the latest information on this recall.
