If you've never been to a car show, you should really do yourself the favor. Between all the schmoozing, the swag, and the sneak-peeks, they're a little slice of automotive paradise. In fact, the only thing that might improve on the experience would be merging the fun of a car show with, say, the deliciousness of a grilled cheese sandwich. Which, in fact, is what Nissan is doing at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

In fact, Nissan is sponsoring not one, but two 2012 Nissan NV2500 High Roof vans at the LA Auto Show, and each will serve up goodies from inside the Convention Center's West Hall. One -- dubbed the "Coolhaus" truck -- will be cranking out gourmet ice cream sandwiches with flavors like Strawberry Jalepeno and Mango Sticky Rice. (Added bonus for the dexterously challenged: the ice cream sandwiches come with edible wrappers.) The other van -- called, less originally, "The Grilled Cheese Truck" -- will be serving high-end grilled cheese sandwiches.

The upside of this news is that many folks will get an up-close-and-personal look at the NV van, which represents Nissan's first foray into North America's commercial vehicle market. That's important for a number of reasons -- not the least of which being that Mayor Michael Bloomberg has named the NV as the new taxicab of New York City. In other words, we're going to be seeing a lot of this model down the road.

The downside? According to the Nissan press release, it appears that the two trucks will be limiting their service to the media attending the Auto Show. Bummer.

If that's truly the case, though, you needn't fret: The Grilled Cheese Truck and the Coolhaus both get around. (In fact, the Coolhaus makes appearances in Austin and NYC, too.) Follow Grlldcheesetruk and Coolhaus on Twitter to see when they'll be near you.
