Family Car Advice: Steer Clear Of Deer This Fall Page 2

October 3, 2011

Deer and car

-      Come to a controlled stop, and then steer your vehicle well off the roadway. When you are clear of the roadway, turn on your emergency flashers. If you decide to exit the vehicle, be cautious of other vehicles on the road.

-      Report the crash to law enforcement.

Remember that very few injuries occur to drivers or occupants of vehicles simply from striking a deer. Conservation officers, safety groups and law enforcement concur that no animal’s life is worth your own or any of your passengers.

Bottom line: When driving this fall, stay safe, stay alert, slow down and steer clear of deer.
