Ford Drive One Ad
A lot has been said about GM and Chrysler taking the government bailouts while Ford didn't, but to date, the automakers have played nice regarding the situation. Ford has now apparently decided it's OK to slam the competition for taking government loans, airing a commercial that does just that.
The commercial is part of Fords recent "press conference" Drive One marketing campaign where real Ford vehicle owners are surprised to walk into a press conference. "Reporters" immediately begin badgering the Ford owner with questions.
Ford says the commercials are completely unscripted and the words are all those of the participants.
In this recent clip of Chris, an F-150 owner, the reporter asked if buying American was important to him. Watch the video below for Chris's response.
Our take: while it feels like a low blow for Ford to promote and use this footage, it is unscripted and it was Chris's opinion. Let us know in the comments if you think Ford was right for airing the commercial.
