Motown and the Motor City take a flyover to L.A. in Chrysler’s new commercial for the 2012 Chrysler 300S--featuring Dr. Dre cruising around the City of Angels in the luxury sedan that's “Imported from Detroit.”In this "Good Things" spot, the background music is a Dre instrumental, while a voiceover – using the same voice from the Eminem spot – says, “Some people say good things come to those who wait. Truth is, good things come to those who work – who work later, who work harder.”
Of course, when Dre steps out of the Chrysler 300 S at the end of the spot, he’s got a few choice closing words. “This is L.A., this is what we do.”
Echoes of Eminem come to mind? The music is so good, and the visuals so, well, L.A., that this spot – so far only seen online – certainly brings to mind the Eminem Chrysler Super Bowl ad.
In the six days since Chrysler uploaded the spot to YouTube June 1, it’s been viewed more than 168,000 times.
What do you think? Does Dr. Dre pick up the beat in this latest iteration of Chrysler’s “Imported from Detroit” advertising campaign?
Oh, and by the way, the Chrysler features a sound system with Beats by Dr. Dre speakers. Gotta love the tie-in. Hey, it's all about promotion, after all.
