The recall documentation states that some 2011 Colorado’s windshield wiper arms were not tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications. If the wipers encounter any resistance, such as heavy snow, ice or even dry operation, the arm could detach.
Detaching of the arm in rain or snow could lead to decreased vision and this may result in an accident. In addition, the arm could come loose at a high rate of speed.
General Motors is rectifying the problem, by tightening the nut on these arms free of charge. The NHTSA anticipates the recall to be in effect by May 11, 2011. Concerned drivers can reach Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 for more details.
