2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon
This time, it's the 2011 E-Class sedan and wagon on the service-action notice. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these E-Classes don't have enough adhesive between a vibration damper and a mass-damper ring in the powertrain.
The lack of goop could cause the parts to separate during operation--which means a maintenance technician or anyone studying the E-Class' engine bay could be hit by the resulting, detached pieces.
The recall only affects 41 vehicles, but all those owners will be contacted for free repairs. As always, if you suspect your Benz is on the recall list, you can confirm it with Mercedes at 800-367-6372, or get more information from the NHTSA Web site.
