Audi R8 V10
Audi was not first to the social game. In fact they were a little behind the curve when compared to Ford and General Motors. Lately they have been making up for lost time. With the TT-RS Facebook petition and now Kevin Rose.
Earlier today Kevin Rose (founder of Digg) tweeted out "Holy shit, @audiusa just gave me this to drive for a week...." The tweet was attached to a picture of a white Audi R8 V10. Yes, Audi apparently just gave Kevin Rose a R8 V10 for the week. Was it a smart move? In one word, yes!
Kevin Rose is a big name in the social media industry. Heck he's a big name in the business industry at this point. Giving someone that is so socially networked and followed a car like this is nothing but good PR/marketing. I am sure we will see tweets through out the week talking about the car and his experiences.
What did this little PR/marketing stunt really cost Audi? A R8 V10 for a week...that's it! My guess is that this will pay off huge for them. Getting the word out about the R8 V10 is no easy feat. In a world mixed with Lamborghini's and Ferrari's Audi is not exactly known as a super car player outside of the direct automotive enthusiasts crowd. But to the wealthy technology savvy crowd, Kevin Rose can get the word out.
