2011 Chevrolet Cruze
Now that it's finally here (well, almost), the ad campaigns have begun.
Last week we wrote about Tim Allen (you remember him from Home Improvement and, um, TheSmokingGun) as the voice behind the new upcoming commercials. Those commercials are here for you to scan, in case you've given up on "be there" TV.
The ads are surprisingly good. I hadn't seen either, but my mother had.
"Joel, what is a Chevrolet Cruze?"
Good question, mom. How did she even know about the car? She said she'd seen one of the ads on TV--and she was impressed. The ad didn't try to sell her--but asked her to learn more about it instead.
Mom's not a car person--far from it, in fact. But this commercial caught her attention, and held it. So much so, she asked.
The 2011 Chevy Cruze is good enough to draw attention, but GM needs to get butts out of Corolla seats and into its own. And that's what the ads do: one pretty much calls out the Toyota Corolla, while the other focuses on the nice things that have been said about the Cruze in the media (including here at High Gear Media, in our 2011 Chevrolet Cruze review).
Ads like these may just work. What's your take? Tell us in the comments section below.
