Tim Allen, the voice of Michigan tourism, Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear, and Home Improvements Tim Taylor will soon be the voice of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, and the rest of the Chevrolet brand, GM announced today. The ads running Allen's voice will start September 7, the day before the official retail launch at GM's Lordstown plant.
In addition to his celebrity as an actor and comedian, Allen is well-known for his love of cars and "powerrrr!" He's also a Detroit native with strong ties to Michigan.
“Tim Allen brings the right combination of a recognizable voice with the credibility, likeability and humor that will connect with viewers,” said Joel Ewanick, vice president, U.S. marketing, General Motors. “His passion for all things cars makes him the perfect match for the Chevrolet brand
Commercials featuring Allen will focus on media plaudits and competitive comparisons to cars like the Ford Focus. Both television and social media will be included in the campaign.
