The weekend's coming, and we know many of you are planning last-minute getaways and Labor Day cookouts. Sadly, like some of our East Coast pals, we're stuck poking around the interweb and trying not to resent our meteorologically advantaged colleagues. For us, there's only one vacation we can manage right now, and it comes in the form of a new commercial for the MINI Countryman.
There's a lot to love about the clip embedded below. For starters, the Countryman looks great: cute, sexy, and really fun to drive. And then there's the scenery: the streets of Milan, the amazing Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and the beauty of George Clooney's Italy's Lake Como.
But best of all, there's the graphics. Every science nerd worth her Erlenmeyer flask has seen the effect used here: it's how Michio Kaku and his physicist cohorts explain mind-blowing concepts like the many-worlds multiverse, in which our universe splits every time we make a decision. Only this is far less unsettling.
Better still: someone had the good sense to put together a "making of" clip, which you'll find just below the ad.
Hey, we know it's no Cape Cod clambake, but given the weather on the Cape this weekend, it's probably a drier alternative.
