2011 Mercedes Benz CLS: Inspiring Passion Through Thievery

August 18, 2010

As I was toiling away at the computer today, I decided I should actually do something for myself, for me, to treat myself to something apart from the unabashed joy of filling out TPS reports. So I decided to eat lunch, and simultaneously surf the Internet while ingesting a sandwich. (See? I can do two things at once.) And it was clear in my mind that the web is full of passionate people, whether it’s cars, comedy or cooking.

And I came across an article in a German magazine about the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS, a fine looking vehicle no matter how you slice it. Swoopy, classy, style and substance all in one, and something you wouldn’t necessarily expect from the practicality-minded Swabians. But up until now, pretty much everything I have seen has been rendered or covered in tape, so these are pretty accurate, but not 100 percent accurate. Until now.

If you care to visit a site that’s all in German, a blog called Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog, you can see that someone, somehow got their hands on an actual print version of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS brochure. How did they get this? While I won’t use the word “thievery” or the more colorful “five-fingered discount”, I will say this--whoever wanted this had an in somewhere, or knew of an unlocked door, and was pretty darn passionate, possibly mildly insane with a chromosome surfeit, but they succeeded in giving us the actual latest photos, not rendered, but certainly Photoshopped, of a car I think is about as beautiful as they come.

Click on the images to see it all in detail, and if you don’t understand the German the short version is, the message from M-B is is all about passion. Getting all weak and emotional about a sweet exterior, and a really sybaritic, soft, curve-rich interior, better than anything Mercedes has produced in a while (C, E-Classes, this means you).

Here's a rendered version.
