Volkswagen Announces Certified Collision Repair Facility Program

June 30, 2010
Volkswagen is helping its vehicles maintain their resale value by initiating the VW-Certified Collision Repair Facility program. This allows both dealership-affiliated and independent body shops to perform collision repairs according to Volkswagen’s own safety standards and specifications.

Matthew McCauley, Collision Program Manager for Volkswagen of America said: "This program benefits Volkswagen owners by providing the peace of mind that comes from knowing that when a vehicle is involved in a collision, VW-Certified Collision Repair Facilities will maintain the brand's safety standards and specifications."Repair facilities that are certified must use Volkswagen-approved tools. Technicians also must undergo training to meet Volkswagen repair standards. Re-certification is done yearly by a visit from Volkswagen to see if the facility is meeting proper standards.

If a body shop is certified, Volkswagen provides marketing materials to help promote the company’s high standard of quality. Customers also benefit from this program, as Volkswagen will offer free 24-hour service for vehicles under warranty exclusively to VW-Certified Collision Repair Facilities. This is part of Volkswagen’s Roadside Assistance program.

This program is beneficial not only to give customers peace of mind about the quality of work that is being done on their vehicle, but also helps Volkswagen maintain a high standard of vehicle quality if the vehicle is in need of repair.
