Potential Dana Driveshaft Failures Drive Investigation of 2010 Nissan Trucks and SUVs

February 17, 2010

Toyota appears to not be the only automaker affected by problems with Dana driveshafts. Nissan is reportedly investigating driveshaft yoke issues in some of its trucks and SUVs that use Dana driveshafts.

Our colleagues at Autoblog recently reported that Nissan is joining Toyota in investigating the potential failure of driveshaft yokes on a part provided by Tier 1 auto supplier Dana for 2010 Nissan trucks and SUVs. Autoblog cited sources of The Detroit Bureau that identified the 2010 Nissan Titan and Frontier pickups as being a focus of the Nissan internal investigation.

Autoblog indicated it is uncertain whether the Dana driveshafts under investigation at Toyota and Nissan are the same part or are in any way related. They also stated that Nissan has a brief window, just a few days, to determine whether to initiate a recall for the issue with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

We'll keep our eyes peeled and ears open for any updates on this looming possible driveshaft recall for Nissan pickups and SUVs.
