As Volkswagen continues its warpath toward the top of the industry's sales charts, it has announced several special-edition models to help drive customers into dealerships and offer something outside the ordinary. Today, the company announced three of those special editions are now available for sale in dealerships across the U.S..
The cars are the 2010 CC R-Line, 2010 Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition and 2010 New Beetle Red Rock Edition. Each is a different take on the base vehicle, with appearance, performance and features all playing a role.
The 2010 CC R-Line offers mostly visual enhancements to the standard CC four-door coupe. The upgrades include a more sporty and aggressive body kit, with a new front bumper, side skirts and front chin spoiler, plus 19-inch "Mallory" wheels, R-Line badges, and brushed aluminum door sills. The powertrain is Volkswagen's familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG).
Coming at the Jetta from a green, yet more performance-oriented angle is the 2010 Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition. Based on the cars that run in the production-vehicle based TDI Cup race series, the TDI Cup Street Edition features a full body kit, 18-inch "Charleston" alloy wheels, high-performance tires, upgraded GLI brakes, and a tuned sport suspension also borrowed from the GLI. Inside, cloth-upholstered sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and brushed aluminum side sills complete the package. Power comes from the same 140-horsepower, 236-pound-foot 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine used in the standard Jetta TDI and in the race series. Buyers can choose between either manual or six-speed DSG transmissions.
Finally, the New Beetle Red Rock Edition offers a fresh take on the New Beetle's looks. It's limited to a production run of just 750 units, so there's some exclusivity attached to this model as well. If you get your hands on one of these, you'll find the car comes with a unique two-tone Red Rock metallic painted body and a black roof. The interior is all black, with a unique set of 17-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded sport suspension offering a bit more fun to the drive.
All three models are available for purchase at VW dealerships now, with the CC R-Line starting from $29,500, the TDI Cup Street starting from $24,900, and the New Beetle Red Rock starting from $20,930.
