Fun To Drive Family/Commuter Cars: 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR

January 14, 2010

Nissan Altima 3.5 SR: (Prices Starting at $24,520)

Do you lust after a Nissan Z sports coupe but realize, heck, that car doesn't have a backseat and you have a wife and two kids under 5? Well, it must just be your lucky day because Nissan makes a sporting version of its Altima family sedan with the same 3.5 liter V6 from the old 350Z.  Isn't that just so thoughtful of Nissan to build a fun to drive car not just for the ever varying needs of your family but also for your personal wants?

And guess what? They lowered the price for 2010 to under $25,000 so you should be able to afford it, too, without anyone realizing how much fun you are having. The 2010 model year Altima line has also been slightly altered with new headlights, hood, interior trim and the aforementioned price cut all featuring. But really, when the Altima already stood as the best looking family sedan on the market would you change much if you were Nissan?

Over the years Nissan has also pretty much exorcised all of the torque steer (re: pulling to one side under hard acceleration in high power, front drive cars) from the V6 Altima so you are free to enjoy the sweet revving nature of the 3.5 liter engine. This engine has also been used in the Nissan fleet for years and has also proven itself to be a highly durable engine so you needn't worry about your Altima's motor until your first born starts thinking about colleges.

The 2010 Altima 3.5 SR also comes very well equipped with Nissan's highly respected CVT auto gearbox, automatic air conditioning, sports suspension, a rear spoiler and automatic headlamps. The Altima also has a very spacious and well built interior with clear gauges and plenty of storage space for cell phones, Garmin portable navigators and the like.

You can option up your Altima to near $30,000 with leather, built in navigation, Bose Audio and more but that pretty much flies in the face of the huge pricing gift that Nissan just gave you. A practical four door family sedan with the thumping heart of a 350Z for under $25,000? Why are you still reading this? Isn't there a 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR down at your local Nissan dealer with your name on it?
