GMC To Show Off New Model at the Detroit Show

December 31, 2009
When GM previewed what models it plans to show at the Detroit Show to the press, a new GMC model was previewed. However, this new model is nothing like what GMC has ever produced. Continuing GMC's wonder into the car based section, this new model will be rather compact.

Sources say the new model will be a compact hatchback designed to compete with cars like the Scion xB and the Nissan Cube, however, at a more premium price. Sources also say this new model will be called the Granite and will arrive at dealers for the 2012 model year. This vehicle was also previewed back in August when GM released its future product plans.

It is unkown if the actual production version or a concept will debut at the show. It has been said the Granite will be based off the upcoming Orlando's hardware, which will also debut at the show. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed to be taken at the press release so we have no details on design, but expect the usual sharp and boxy lines that curtail GMC vehicles.

Fortunately, we will not have to wait long to see the Granite, as the Detroit show is in a couple weeks. Stay tuned for more information on the Granite as it is released.
