Here are a couple of words to the wise men (and wise women): be prepared for your holiday travels. For flyers, that means bring books to pass the time and wear slip-on shoes. For road-trippers it means bundle up, carry snacks, and don't always trust your GPS navigation system. A Nevada couple learned that lesson the hard way last weekend when satnav stranded them on a remote, snow-covered road in Oregon. Thankfully, they'd brought provisions, and after three days, the would-be Donner Party got a phone signal -- ironically, on a GPS-enabled phone. No word on which satnav system sent them down the stony end, but two people may be getting big bucks to keep their traps shut. [NOLA.com]
