Parting Shots From Larry Burns, GM's Head Of R&D

Larry Burns, General Motors' vice president of research and development, is a very big thinker. Sometimes he's been taken to task for his outside-the-box ideas, including his laser-like focus on hydrogen fuel-cell technology, his work on the Segway-ish P.U.M.A., and his talk about interconnected vehicles that would leave drivers free to do things like text-message. However, as people who live inside the box every freakin' day, we love a guy with vision. Burns retires on October 1, and yesterday he conducted a web chat on the GM blog.
