2009 Mini Coupe Concept
We've known about the MINI Coupe and Roadster concepts for a couple weeks now, but they're still six days from their official debuts in Frankfurt. As the date draws nearer, MINI is working to keep the hype rising with a new, somewhat off-beat, preview video.
With no direct shots of the cars themselves - not that the Coupe isn't already familiar - the video leaves the viewer's imagination to fill in the connection between a woman's reflection, a little bit of screaming, Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and some hard rather hard rock'n'roll.
The MINI concepts themselves, however, are much less mysterious: they will feature a powertrain common to the John Cooper Works MINIs, with a 211-horsepower, 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, at least the choice of a manual transmission and otherwise familiar MINI styling and features.
The Roadster and Coupe both shrink the standard MINI Cooper's dimensions a bit by eschewing the rear seat and cargo area. For more on the Coupe and Roadster, you can watch a video or read our preview coverage.
