The Porsche Panamera may suffer a slow and painful demise at the hands of Porsche's new owners, the VW Group, but its death will not be in vain: sources from within the company indicate that the Panamera platform will live on as a new vehicle in Volkswagen's sprawling family of brands.
According to Edmunds, the company source wouldn't confirm which brand would receive the Panamera's RWD/AWD platform, except to say that it would not fall to Lamborghini. Given the platform's pedigree and the fact that VW has plenty of sedans on the market, chances are good that it wouldn't go to Volkswagen either. (But of course, we never say never.) The remaining candidates include Bentley, Bugatti, and Audi. Bugatti seems like a longshot, and Bentley isn't much better, though Audi might find a use for it somewhere.
At any rate, the answer to this riddle isn't obvious yet -- at least not to most of us. (We have a few conspiracy theorists among the TCC ranks, but we'll keep their opinions to ourselves.) If you'd care to enlighten us, though, by all means do so in the comments below.
