2010 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger Top Safety Picks

August 25, 2009

Some good news for the Chrysler and Dodge lineups, which will see few changes for 2010 as the company works on a new product plan with Fiat--the Dodge Avenger and  Chrysler Sebring are Top Safety Picks.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) put the mid-size Chrysler sedans on its 2009 list as 2010 models. The IIHS requires "good" crash ratings for frontal, side and rear impacts along with standard stability control to earn the honor.

“A vehicle that earns the Top Safety Pick designation provides the best overall protection in the three most common kinds of crashes,” said Adrian Lund, President – Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. “Top-level crash-test performance plus electronic stability control to help keep drivers out of crashes are the tough criteria needed to earn this award.”
The 2010 Sebring and 2010 Avenger will be outfitted with anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control as standard, as well as side airbags, active headrests and brake assist.

We'll have more for you on the Chrysler Group lineup for 2010 on September 1--or before then, if those pesky dead-tree publications insist on doing things old-skool.
