Acclaimed (and ridiculed) Segway inventor Dean Kamen has developed an intriguing hybrid scooter. Similar to, say, the Chevy Volt, the scooter is powered by electricity, but Kamen has added an external-combustion Stirling engine to keep the batteries fully charged. Although a Stirling wouldn't be ideal as a primary power source, it ought to do great in this role--and as an added bonus, it runs on anything flammable. Which means we could make beer runs and burn off old bank statements, all at the same time. Ain't multitasking great?
