Pontiac Execution Penciled In For Monday. Bring Flowers.

April 24, 2009

Following months of speculation about Pontiac's future, an inside source at General Motors has indicated that the brand will be officially killed off this Monday. Asked for confirmation of these rumors, GM PR man Tom Wilkinson said only, "There's nothing I can share with you at this time. Keep your eyes on our media site. Officially, nothing has changed with Pontiac's niche-brand status, until you hear differently."

It's the sort of thing you'd wish you'd been able to see Wilkinson say in person, just to read his body language. It might've gone something like, "[SLOWLY AND WITH A KNOWING STARE] There's nothing I can share with you at this time. [NUDGE] Keep your eyes on our media site. [WINK] Officially, nothing has changed with Pontiac's niche-brand status, until you hear differently. [WHISPERING, AS HE LOOKS AT THE CCTV CAM BEHIND HIM] All-kay ee-may on my ersonal-pay ell-say."

Of course, things could change, but we're going to press out our black suits over the weekend, just to be on the safe side. Stay tuned for further developments and a loving tribute (if applicable.)
