Dixie Chopper Xcaliber Eco-Eagle CNG Lawn Mower
We love conferences and trade shows. Sure, the food's bad, and the giveaways make you wonder if you really needed another pen-screwdriver with a corporate logo. But where else can you find a product like the Dixie Chopper Xcaliber Eco-Eagle CNG Mower?
This clean green machine was launched at the start of the Alternative Fuels & Vehicles National Conference + Expo, held in Orlando, Florida (OK, at Disneyworld). The Expo winds up today, so early this morning we shot a few pics of our faves.
The Eco-Eagle is from Dixie Chopper, which bills itself as the builder of "the world's fastest lawn mower". It's not every lawnmower company that sponsors an NHRA dragster, right? The Eco-Eagle is billed as "the world's first and finest natural gas zero-turn lawn mower".
And the specs! Standard springer forks, electric deck lift, and now a standard roll bar too. The important parts include a 66-inch cutting deck with a new operator-controlled discharge chute (that's OCDC to insiders), which lets you cut up to 9.2 acres an hour--or around 5 minutes for your standard suburban 1-acre lot.
The Eco-Eagle's 990cc Generac engine runs on compressed natural gas (CNG), joining the existing lineup of Xcaliber models with gasoline, diesel, and propane power. How much? Try $11,700 to start.
Conference scuttlebutt crowned the Xcaliber Eco-Eagle the crowd favorite on the show floor. And there were some wacky wheels there, from tiny electric cars to the largest sport utility we've ever seen. We might toss up a few more photos later on.
Meanwhile, visualize yourself slicing through 66-inch swathes of your lawn astride this monster. It gives, "Honey, are you going to mow the lawn today?" a whole new meaning.
