2009 New York Auto Show: 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL Goes Nip/Tuck

April 8, 2009

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV doesn't look a lot different, but the standard-bearing sport-ute gets small nips and tucks for the new model year, to carry it gracefully through its middle years.

Outside, the GL gets new bumpers and grille, daytime running lights and new fog lamps. Newly styled wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches are on the roster, too. Inside, the GL gets new leather seats, and the GL550 adds active ventilated chairs and three-row leather seating. All GLs get new guages, a new steering wheel, and an option for full leather seating, while diesel models also get standard walnut trim.

Technologically speaking, the 2010 Benz GL-Class is also 50-state compliant with the addition of BlueTec to its diesel option. PRE-SAFE, which prepares the vehicle for a collision by tightening seat belts and opening windows a bit, is now standard, along with an updated tire-pressure monitoring system.
