Stephanie French, woman with a wrench
The language of cars--the lingo of powertrains and drivetrains and transmissions and such--is one that all gearheads appreciate. However, it's a language mostly spoken by guys. On those (increasingly less rare) occasions that we hear women talk about their passion for manifolds and braking systems, we can't help but sit up and take notice.
So when someone led us to a video of Washington state Subaru enthusiast Stephanie French telling the world about her tricked out STI, we wanted to know more. Turns out her father and grandfather were both car nuts, and they nurtured their own hobbies and interests in her. Unlike some dads, they took the time to explain the inner workings of cars, which has led to a fledgling career in parts shops and pit crews for the young Ms. French.
Here's a clip of the tuner in action, taking us on a guided tour of her personal ride. We think she's a great role model for girls and young women interested in the auto industry, and a very welcome addition to the gearhead community.
