In typical MINI fashion, the brand's Financial Services arm is mixing a little business with pleasure, arcade style. Today they announce a new iPhone App called "MINI Liquid Assets," which is a free download from iTunes that will run on the iPhone and iPod Touch with version 2.0 software.
Remember the old handheld water jet games, where a sealed plastic chamber encased floating gamepieces manipulated by bursts of water generated by users' thumbs? MINI's take on the old-school game, replete with aqueous sound effects and bits of cold hard cash as the floating gamepieces, encourages users "to avoid obstacles and guide their precious coins into the safety and comfort of their beloved MINIs." To which we text, LOLZ.
Users will be able to select from settings featuring a fish tank with sharks ("Don't Feed the MINI"), aliens in Area 51 ("Restricted"), or money-saving tricks ("MINI Liquid Assets"). User-selectable difficulty levels: "Easy," "Medium," and "OMG." Of course, MINI models like the new MINI Cooper Convertible and the MINI E are featured in the games. The App was designed by Nickel Fish Design, LLC.
MINI advertising has always been cutting-edge, resonating with its youthful, tech-savvy (and Mac-loving) customer base. And Ford seems poised for a hit with the PC-crowd with its SYNC technology. Wake up, GM - you need more than OnStar to wow this market.
