Where’s My Tax Refund, Asks Ford

July 11, 2008

Still waiting for your tax refund? Just be grateful you're not Ford Motor Co. The cash-strapped automaker has filed suit against the tax man, claiming the IRS owes it a whopping $445 million.

The problem, says Ford, is that the government miscalculated interest on tax payments from 1983 through 1989 and again from 1992 to 1994.

When you're a company that has lost $15.3 billion over a two-year stretch, anything helps.

A Ford spokesperson said that because of the size of the money the automaker is seeking, it had "no choice" but to sue, reports the Detroit Free Press.
