You know it’s a slow news day--either that or a news crime is being perpetrated on product-hungry outlets like ours. But left without another option, we present this fashion-mauled picture of the new Mercedes-Benz CLC, with Eva Padberg draped all over it, and a photographer clearly stepping into someone else’s shot. The CLC will be unveiled to the public not at the auto-show circuit, but during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Germany, a country normally associated with Fasching, not fashion.
The car, goes on sale in the spring and Benz promises quality along with a fun driving experience. It’s a successor to the C-Class hatchback that came and went from the U.S. lineup, but Benz says some 1100 parts have been changed to make it a new driving experience. Infotainment systems, navigation systems and a 184-hp four-cylinder are all new, according to the press release, which was unmolested by fashionistas, just stiff German-to-English translation.
We like our Project Runway - or we used to until Jeffrey beat out Laura (crime!) - but we like our auto news kept separate. Tell us whether Benz needs to get back into the compact-coupe market, why don’t you? And in the meantime, won’t you implore Benz to stop being so coy?
UPDATE: Mercedes released a batch of images of the new CLC. Here's a pair of them -- keeping in mind that MBUSA's Steve Cannon says the CLC won't be coming to the States.
