D-List Cars Getting Dissed on eBay

Once upon a time, minor celebrities had approved outlets: The Love Boat, Match Game, and Campbell's Soup commercials. But in today's hucksterist economy, the scrappy D-lister needs a heavy dose of self-promotion to keep those invites to other D-listers' parties rolling in.

Only, the most recent warehouse for publicity seems to be faltering. The Wall Street Journal reports that eBay celebrity auctions for cars are fetching a lot less than even Kelley Blue Book prices the vehicles. A 1983 Porsche 928 owned by purported actor Stephen Baldwin got a bid of $5800-and plenty of hater feedback: "Do you own a car owned by a more famous Baldwin brother?" the paper quotes the seller.

Even skinny Jared of Subway fame has seen his star tarnished. Earlier this year a Mitsu Galant he'd owned went for $4000, against a blue-book value of $5700. "I'm not like Tom Cruise or someone like that," Fogle told the Journal. Or even a Baldwin, for that matter.
