Cadillac’s awfully generous these days. It’s slapped its name on a Saab 9-3, it’s lending its marvy multivalve V-6 to Buick and Saturn, and now it’s giving the HUMMER H2 the courtesy of its whomping 6.2-liter, 393-horsepower V-8. In the H2 the excess displacement does a few good things: no doubt it’s smoother and nicer to drive, but it actually improves the fuel economy of the flying war brick, too, thanks to a six-speed automatic. HUMMER isn’t fixing just the engine: the back of the H2 gets lots of love too, with a third-row seat and all sorts of kid-friendly options so you can simply ignore what’s going on in the back and avoid all those roadside IUDs on the way to work. Wait, are they IUDs or IEDs? Whatever they are, they seem to be important.
