Nothing says GM’s turnaround is working more than a well-timed press release regarding carbon dioxide. Following on the heels of Al Gore’s return to Washington (“emotional,” in his words—cue strings) GM says it’s committed to cutting its carbon dioxide output by 40 percent come 2010. They’re measuring it since 2000, however—and our question is, GM, how much of the cuts are coming from all those old-school plants you’re shutting down? Wait five minutes for a similar release from Ford.
